Here's the deal.

I do a few things.

I'm an urban artist, and I teach my personal blend of Zen practice and urban sketching at the Flax store in San Francisco. Some sketches are on this site, and you can see what’s current on Instagram. You can see nearly everything I draw on Instagram.

I work as a content designer at QuickBooks. I also write science-based stories. You’ll some of my work on Medium. Many of my stories are based on work I do as a community scientist with the Presidio here in San Francisco. I do habitat restoration, everything from pulling weeds to transplanting freshwater mussels.

I used to run a company: Big Stick Charcoal. I took a life drawing class, and was disappointed with available drawing charcoal. So I partnered with a woodworker and another artist, and created Big Stick Charcoal. We made a premium drawing charcoal for artists, duplicating the velvety black strokes of vine charcoal in a bigger, better stick. After a successful 5 year run, I closed the company to focus on other pursuits.
